The four colors of Périgord

Available in 4 colors, white, green, purple and black, Périgord offers a multitude of landscapes.

The Périgord Blanc

Central part of the department, its color comes from its chalky soils and its cliffs dug by the water of the rivers. Its main city is Périgueux. It is crossed by two rivers, Auvézère and Isle.

The Périgord Vert

It is the abundant vegetation watered by the Bandiat, the Auvézère, the Isle and the Dronne which gave color to this part of the Dordogne. It covers the northern crescent of the department.

The Purple Périgord

On the Southwest, this part of Périgord takes its name from the literary evocation of red wine and the color of the vines in autumn. It is also the Pays des Gabarres, Montaigne and Grand Bergeracois.

The Black Périgord

Sarlat, the valley of the Vézère and the Dordogne, forests of green oaks, prehistoric sites and troglodytes, caves and many others. The south-east of the Dordogne is the most famous part and it is here that the 4-star campsite Le Moulin de Paulhiac is located.
