Perched on a vertiginous cliff of more than 150 meters, Domme overlooks the Dordogne River and makes it an ideal site for a stronghold. It is for this reason that Philippe III says "the bold" will decide to create a bastide around 1281.
The ramparts that surround the village and the various gates that allowed access (do not miss the imposing Porte des Tours) make the bastide of Domme an exeptional site.
Despite the various episodes it has suffered, its state of preservation is remarkable, which allows it to be part of the prestigious ranking of the most beautiful villages in France.
Colonnades, stalactites, stalagmites, this is the promise of Domme Cave. Access to its 450m gallery is located under the 17th century hall. The end of the visit is done by a panoramic elevator and you will enjoy on one of the most beautiful views of the Dordogne valley.
